Apr 04, 2018  Question: Q: Contacts names not Syncing to car Bluetooth Hello I have updated my iPhone 7 Plus To iOS 11 and I noticed that when I pair my phone to my car via Bluetooth the only thing that is showing in the phonebook is the numbers but not the names of my contacts thats saved on my phone.

I got my answer through the Mercedes Benz forum. Mercedes have published a document that lists all the various phones and then gives detailed instructions on how to export vcards from the Galaxy Note into any suitable Mercedes car. Anyone wanting the info. Select contacts. You won’t need to restore contacts this way. Learn about syncing. Export contacts. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app. Tap Menu Settings Export. Choose one or more accounts to export contacts from. Tap Export to.VCF file. Turn automatic backup off or on. Jul 21, 2010  I have a Pioneer headunit in my truck and my old razr used to be able to download/transfer the phonebook with no problem.when I try to connect my droid, I can pair it okay but when the headunit promps to download the phonebook, the bluetooth disconnects and it only get's three contacts. I think it can be phone dependent. I've got the latest version of COMAND and it auto syncs with my Blackberry, can read texts on screen etc, but the missus has some touch screen thing, Sony Experia I think, and doesn't seem to have the same functionality with COMAND, should it?

I found it by accident, someone sent a text to me when the phone was paired by bluetooth with the COMAND system and a little envelope appears on screen similar to the way it would on your phone. Switch COMAND over to telephone, there should be 3 options at the bottom of the screen you can go to, the middle being SMS and there's your text!
It also allows you to bring up and read other texts on your phone that were sent previously which is nice

I've only had the car 2 weeks and haven't switched on any settings myself, simply synced up the phone to the car via bluetooth when I got it and the text function is there, worked on my previous 2011 C220 also.
ETA I've just read the COMAND manual and the only thing I can see that would indicate why anyone is having problems is that it states the mobile phone must support the MAP Bluetooth profile (Message Access Profile) - maybe some phones do and some don't?

Yes, bluetooth, but with the BB Bold 9900 which is only a month or so old so is pretty bang up to date.
Steering column mounted gear selector is only standard across 2012 cars I think, my lowly 2011 car has the standard gear selector on transmission tunnel, oh well, one cant have the latest phone and the latest car, something's got to give
